Inder Singh Dogra is a renowned industrialist in the district Bilaspur, Himachal Pradesh. He was born on May 4, 1954, in village Jangla, post office Gehrwin, district Bilaspur, Himachal Pradesh to Jyoti Ram and Kailashi Devi. He has two brothers Ishwar Das and Prem Singh and two sisters, Mathura Devi and Kamala Devi. Furthermore, he married Hari Priya in November 1985, and they have three sons, Rishabh, Dev Vrat, and Vinayendra.
Early life and education
Mr. Dogra completed his early schooling at Gehrwin School in Bilaspur. He later pursued higher education at Degree College, Bilaspur, followed by a post-graduate degree in Geography from Meerut. During his academic years, he developed a broader understanding of society, resources, and human potential. It was during this phase that he realized education should not be limited to personal employment but should empower individuals to create opportunities for others.
Driven by this belief, Inder Singh Dogra chose the path of entrepreneurship instead of conventional employment. After undergoing training in various entrepreneurial and industrial programs, he established a hosiery manufacturing unit in Bilaspur in 1980. This initiative marked a turning point, not only in his personal life but also in the industrial growth of the region. His enterprise provided employment to many local youths and contributed to strengthening the small-scale industrial ecosystem of Himachal Pradesh.
Alongside his business journey, Mr. Dogra remained deeply engaged in intellectual and social activities. In 1982, he became associated with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), where he took on various organizational responsibilities over time. His involvement reflected his commitment to nation-building, discipline, and cultural awareness. He also played an active role in managing educational institutions run by Vidya Bharti through the Himachal Shiksha Samiti, contributing significantly to value-based education.
His academic inclination led him to become a Life Member of the Indian History Congress, where he actively participated in national-level conferences hosted by universities across India. Through debates and discussions, he engaged with scholars and historians on diverse perspectives of Indian history. Later, he became associated with the Akhil Bhartiya Itihas Sankalan Yojna, where he had the opportunity to interact with eminent historians and thinkers from across the country, further enriching his intellectual journey.
Inder Singh Dogra has also held important leadership roles in industrial and social organizations. He served as the General Secretary of Himachal Pradesh Udyogpati MahaSangh, advocating for the interests of entrepreneurs and small industries. At present, he serves as the Margdarshak of Bhartiya Itihas Sankalan Yojna Samiti, Himachal Pradesh, and holds the position of Vibhag Adhyaksh of Vishwa Hindu Parishad. Additionally, he is a member of the Himachal Pradesh Sahityakaar Parishad and Laghu Udyog Bharati, reflecting his engagement with literature and small-scale industries.
On the professional front, Mr. Dogra is the Managing Director of several institutions, including Dogra Hosiery, Dogra Vastra Udyog, Jeevan Jyoti Nursing College, Dogra Veterinary Pharmacist College, and Dogra Industrial Training Institute. Through these institutions, he has contributed significantly to vocational education, healthcare training, and skill development in the region.
Apart from his industrial and organizational contributions, Inder Singh Dogra is also an author. His notable works include “Aary (Shresth) Bharat” and “Dadaji Ki Kathayen.” These books reflect his concern for cultural awareness, historical clarity, and moral values. His book Aary (Shresth) Bharat aims to present facts related to Indian history from a research-oriented and indigenous perspective.
The book “Aary (Shresth) Bharat” was formally released on 8 April 2022 by the Honourable Governor of Himachal Pradesh, Shri Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar. The launch ceremony was graced by distinguished personalities, including Ganesh Dutt, Chairman of HIMFED, Prof. Sat Prakash Bansal, Vice-Chancellor of Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla, Vivek Bhatia, Secretary to the Governor, along with several other scholars and dignitaries. The event highlighted the growing importance of scholarly discourse on Indian history and cultural identity.
